Typical Procedures Routinely Performed

From routine cleanings and fillings to bruxism devices, Michael J. Chalef, DDS is equipped to handle all your dental needs. To help you understand your options, we've included descriptions of some of our leading services on this page.

Initial Oral Examination

Your initial oral examination includes a visual examination, charting, periodontal probing, diagnosis and treatment recommendations. We will also recommend necessary x-rays for the detection of tooth decay in areas not visible to the naked eye, and for the detection of periodontal disease.  For new patients, we like to have a current full mouth series of x-rays to aid in the diagnosis of any potential problems, and will serve as a good baseline for future needs.  If x-rays have been taken recently, it is always helpful to have them available for review during the initial examination.  Having them sent to us,  or brought with you at this visit is very helpful.

Dental Emergencies

There are any number of things that constitute a dental emergency.  It may be onset of pain, major sensitivity to temperature, chewing pain or pressure,  swelling, or it could be a "cosmetic" emergency involving front teeth, such as a crown or bonding coming off, or a traumatic injury.  Our goal is to help you to minimize the risk of emergency treatment. This is why we commit a generous amont of time designing a Lifetime Treatment Plan that will help you to offset the possibility of unforseen pain or tooth breakage.  Of course, in the event of an emergency, call our office to set up a timely visit, and in most cases, these problems can be remedied very quickly.
